Virtual Climate Rise 2020
Saturday, April 18, 2020
Hello Bike Friends,
A challenge for Saturday, April 18, 2020. Join our team, Slow Streets SD, if you are interested. You can choose any challenge for yourself or support mine to support BikeSD.
Inspired by Climate Ride to stay local and to challenge myself. This event is bringing hundreds of people together virtually to raise critical funds for non-profits that are facing tough times during the Coronavirus outbreak. This is an opportunity to support BikeSD and their vital work to promote Slow Streets in San Diego. My challenge is to dedicate my day to complete my first draft of Bike Yoga – Taking your Practice on the Road.
You may also join our team, Slow Streets SD, to help support the necessary work to make our city more bike friendly, people friendly, and environmentally friendly. Your generous donation is an investment in a healthier, safer future and will help Climate Ride to make this a reality.
Thanks and enjoy the ride.
Nicole
===========================
In this time of social distancing, shelter in place orders, and Coronavirus, we wanted to provide our Climate Ride community an opportunity to come together in a virtual event. Our network of beneficiaries are among the many non-profits who need support right now and this event will allow all of us to advocate for them, fund raise, and feel the power of this incredible community.
We’ll host a video conference to kick off the event on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at 8:00 AM PST. Then we’ll set out on our activities and share our progress with the world. Some will plant gardens, others will ride a metric century or pedal their hearts out on their stationary bikes. You can sew masks for hospitals, bake cookies for friends and family, run up a mountain or you can offer to tune all of your friends’ bicycles that have been collecting dust in the garage all winter. Challenge your friends and family to join in their own activity, start a team or join one of the many existing teams of runners, musicians, cyclists and skiers!
You get to choose the beneficiary you support, in our case it is BikeSD. You can choose to raise funds for them, or raise awareness about their critical work. If you do choose to fund raise for them, funds raised during Climate Rise will be distributed to your beneficiaries shortly after the event so they can put those funds to work as soon as possible.
This event is free and anyone can participate. We encourage kids to sign up too! All you need to do is sign up and pick an activity that inspires you. There are no boundaries to what you can do.
The coronavirus pandemic has affected us all and many of our vital nonprofits are in desperate need of support. We have heard from many of you who recognize this need. If you wish to fundraise as part of your participation, you can select from our full list of more than 100 nonprofits who do the hard work of protecting the planet. Rising pandemics are an alarming part of this changing world.
When we recover from this, it will be the beginning of a new era. It will be the most important time ever to support the environment and our grants program so that organizations, large and small, can continue to push for the policies, solutions, and political will to protect our planet while building anew. Join us to create a positive impact for the future.
Thank you for joining us from afar on the Climate Rise Virtual Event!
